Manama, Oct. 3 (BNA): Major General Abdullah Mohammed Al Zayed, Inspector General at the Ministry of Interior, attended the closing ceremony of the 2026 Ministry of Interior Open Powerlifting Championship, organised by the Police Sports Association over four days at Raffles Al Areen Palace Bahrain, with the participation of more than 102 male and female athletes from 14 countries.
The Inspector General said that the Ministry of Interior, in line with the directives of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, is committed to organising international sporting championships that enhance Bahrain's position as a destination for international sporting events. He commended the continued follow-up of Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Police, on the sporting activities organised by the Police Sports Association.
Major General Al Zayed expressed appreciation to the organising committee for its preparations and organisation, commending the efforts that contributed to the championship's success, as well as the technical standards and sportsmanship demonstrated by the participants.
Brigadier Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayat, President of the Police Sports Association, said that the association had completed all technical preparations for the championship, which was organised this year for the first time in cooperation with the World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF).
He noted that all necessary resources had been provided and facilities prepared in accordance with international standards to ensure a comprehensive sporting experience for participants and spectators.
At the conclusion of the championship, the Inspector General honoured the winners in the men's Overall Full Powerlifting Modern Raw – Knee Sleeves category, with Mohammed Fathallah taking first place, Hashim Arif Al Hassan second and Abdullah Mohammed Ahmed third.
In the men's Overall Full Powerlifting Classic Raw – Knee Wraps category, Yusuf Al Esnawi secured first place, Waseem Al Hammadi second and Sayed Ahmed Adel third.
In the women's Overall Full Powerlifting Modern Raw – Knee Sleeves category, Dana Hassan Hameed claimed first place, Fatima Haider second and Uzma Mushtaq third.
The Inspector General wished all participants continued success.
