Paris, Jun. 23 (BNA): The company managing the Eiffel Tower in Paris announced that the landmark will close to visitors earlier than usual, as France experiences a heatwave that has pushed temperatures to around 40 C.
In a statement, the company described the measure as exceptional and said it was introduced as a precaution in response to the high temperatures. It added that the reduced operating hours could be extended to Wednesday if current weather conditions persist.
The company also said that visitors who purchased tickets in advance would be refunded.
The Eiffel Tower, one of the world's most visited landmarks, receives around seven million visitors annually and typically remains open until late in the evening during the summer season.
