Manama, May 11 (BNA): As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), chaired the 28th meeting of the GCC Digital Government Executive Committee, held virtually with the participation of heads and representatives of digital government entities from GCC member states.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Khalid Al Mutawa, Deputy Chief Executive for Operations and Governance at the iGA, along with several officials from the authority.
In his remarks, Al Qaed highlighted the importance of advancing joint GCC cooperation in the field of digital government to further enhance government services, improve efficiency, and keep pace with rapid technological transformation.
He noted that GCC member states remain committed to strengthening digital integration as a strategic priority aimed at building a unified Gulf digital ecosystem capable of responding effectively and flexibly to emerging developments and challenges, particularly in advanced technologies led by artificial intelligence.
The meeting reviewed a number of agenda items, including the GCC Digital Government Award, which aims to promote excellence and innovation in digital government services across member states.
Participants also reviewed the outcomes of the workshop on the first report concerning the implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, in addition to discussing Bahrain’s "MyGov Unified App for Individuals" initiative, one of the national projects aimed at enhancing user experience and improving the integration and efficiency of digital government services through a unified platform.
Preparations for the 10th meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Digital Government were also discussed.
