Manama, Jul. 30 (BNA): The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) concluded the fourth edition of the Young Artisan Programme, held throughout July at Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre. The closing ceremony was attended by Shaikh Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Director General of Heritage at BACA.

The programme attracted strong participation from children and young people and received positive feedback from participants and their parents, who commended the workshops for helping them develop practical skills in a range of Bahrain's best-known traditional handicrafts.

It also highlighted the importance of traditional crafts within Bahraini society, emphasising their close connection to the local environment and the natural materials it provides, many of which can be reused. Through a series of hands-on activities, children and young people learned practical craft skills that enabled them to create functional everyday items, helping preserve traditional craftsmanship while encouraging creativity in the sustainable use of natural resources.

The programme featured practical workshops across a wide range of traditional and contemporary crafts, including epoxy resin art, woodcraft decoration, pottery and ceramics, decoupage, cake decorating, crochet, fashion design, traditional jewellery design, macramé, and other creative arts.

BACA also announced a new series of workshops for adults, scheduled to take place during August 2026. The workshops include: Make Your Own Leather cardholder, Design Your Own Beach Bag, Waves and Threads, Crochet Art, Professional Mobile Photography, Traditional Boat Making, Pottery on the Wheel, Gypsum Decoration and Engraving, Al Sabagh Making, and Arabic Calligraphy.
